After Google, Facebook Started Express Wi-Fi In India

From the recent reports Google has revealed that people nearly 1.5 million people were using the WiFi at 19 railway stations provided by Google for free in India. Also, Google is expecting over 10 million people to use this free WiFi services for free of cost at the railway stations by the Q4 of 2016. But there is one more company known as The Giant Of Social Networking “Facebook” which has set its focus on providing this free services too.

Chairman of Indian Railways’ communications arm “RK Bahuguna”, RailTel has told to Economic Times that with the talks with Facebook to expand its coverage areas not only to Railways but also to villages as well.

However facebook is setting its goals for the free WiFi services at Railways anyway, There will be no doubt that they will refuse to expand the services in villages as well. Because the Social Networking Giant has a vision for developing countries like India. Facebook has already started a program which involves the partnership with the telecommunication companies to provide internet services at a cheaper price already.

Not only that they are also proving software’s and also Technician’s support to fulfill its objectives. In the recent report according to sources, Facebook has talked to few ISP companies sharing their idea about reducing the internet data packages plans for users who cannot afford expensive data packages.

This free WiFi services offered by Facebook will be pretty easy because RailTel already has optic fiber based networks across 4,000 railway stations in the country. And since there is a large area network RailTel can provide data services up to 10Km of the distance of radius from railway platforms. So after some additional access points, they can extend the area coverage to 25Kms.

After purchasing bandwidth from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Facebook recently concluded a set of pilot internet services across 125 rural locations .
