Today, ROG announced through Weibo a new generation of ROG gaming phones, saying the new flagship of Snapdragon 888 is on the way again.
ASUS launched the ROG gaming phones in the 3 past years. This year, it will be called the ROG gaming phone 4. However, considering the special naming of 4, ROG may skip this generation and use a new name.
In terms of specifications, the new generation of ROG gaming phone has not yet appeared. The only thing that can be determined is the Snapdragon 888. The release time should be much earlier than last year’s ROG gaming phone 3, which was released at the end of July.
Judging from the poster, the full-screen design of the new generation of ROG gaming phone is a bright spot. The chin is relatively narrow. It is estimated that the screen-to-body ratio will be higher. The screen panel will continue to maintain high-refresh rate characteristics. Last year, it was 144Hz.
At present, there are three main players in the gaming smartphone market Black Shark, Red Devils and ROG. The hardware platform should be of the same level. It depends on what new tricks the three can play this year.
Anyways, we are waiting for the new ROG gaming phone to hit the market in March-April. In December last year, the Asus ROG ASUS_I005DA phone appeared on GeekBench, equipped with the Snapdragon 888 chip (code-named Lahaina). It was supplemented by 8GB of memory and running an operating system based on Android 11. The new ROG gaming phone scored 1081 points in the single-core test and 3584 points in the multi-core test.
