Black Shark 3S officially announced with Snapdragon 865, 120Hz refresh rate support for $573

Black Shark 3S gaming smartphone is officially announced in China with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. Its not a major update over Black Shark 3 which was announced back in March this year. The key highlights of the Black Shark 3S are the 6.67″ display supporting 120Hz refresh rate, UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR5 RAM support.

Black Shark 3S retained the same 6.67″ FHD+ AMOLED display, provided by Samsung, but its refresh rate is bumped up with 120Hz support, which is significant improvement over the 90Hz refresh rate on Black Shark 3. During the launch event they explained as to why they didn’t opt for a 144Hz refresh rate panel. It also offers a 3rd Generation MEMC along with 500 nits of brightness.

Its powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. It comes with an upgraded UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR5 RAM. As per the launch event, the device scored an impressive 666,000 points on AnTuTu Benchmarks.

They introduced JoyUI 12 which is based on MIUI 12 running Android 10. The user experience includes a package of basic features such as synaesthesia visualization design, super wallpaper, privacy protection to name a few.

Cameras remain unchanged as well as the rear has a triangular shaped camera module comprising of a 64MP primary camera, a 13MP Ultrawide camera and a 5MP depth sensor. While the front has a 20MP camera embedded in the bezel for selfies.

The battery remains unchanged as it retains the 4720mAH battery and 65W ultra fast charging over the Type-C connector. It takes merely 12 minute for a 50% charge, while a full charge requires approx. 38 mins. There’s also a separate 18W magnetic charger that attaches to the back of the phone.

Black Shark 3S accessories

The company also introduced three new gaming accessories. Firstly, a gaming finger sleeve (superconducting carbon fiber material), a game shoulder keys(zinc alloy keys), and the gamepad which comes in a set of three. The new gamepad includes an adapter and a bracket which will enable more Android devices to get compatible with the accessory.

Black Shark 3S will come in two color variants i.e Sky Cloud Black and Crystal Blue.
