Nothing is an independent brand founded by OnePlus co-founder Pei Yu. At today’s event named “The Truth,” Carl Pei announced the brand’s first smartphone – Nothing Phone (1). It will be the second product from the brand, i.e., after Nothing Ear (1), which was a TWS. The TWS was a hit in the market because it came with a transparent design, had support for ANC, and was available at an affordable price. Carl Pei has also announced that the upcoming smartphone will be shipped with its own Nothing OS. The OS will be based on the Android operating system.
Nothing Phone (1)
Nothing Phone (1) will be featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. As said, it will run on a custom Android system called Nothing OS. The upcoming phone will feature an iconic design and is almost similar to that of Stock Android. It will offer many customization options like some other Operating Systems.
The OS provides seamless connectivity with other devices in the Nothing product ecosystem. It will also work seamlessly with third-party devices. That is Pei said that the OS is built on an open and seamless ecosystem that will effortlessly connect and integrate Nothing products and products from other world-leading brands.
Nothing also promises that the phone will get three years of OS updates. At the same time, it will also get four years of device security updates. In addition, the official launch of a Nothing OS Launcher, i.e., an Android launcher, will be released in April. It will be compatible with other Android phones. It is expected that the device will ship with Android 12 out of the box.

Carl Pei said that Nothing Phone (1) would be released in the summer of 2022. It means that the device will be launched in the Q3 of 2022 and can be between June and September. Besides this, Carl Pei hasn’t released more information about the phone. We don’t know if the device will be powered by a mid-range or flagship Qualcomm chipset.
At the previous MWC, i.e., the MWC 2022, Carl Pei discussed about the upcoming mobile phone with Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon.
The above picture shows that the device has a gray back cover, and the lens is in the upper left corner of the rear panel. However, no more details about the phone could be found from the same picture. According to an Indian media 91Mobiles, there are rumors that Nothing will launch a transparent phone in early 2022. It is expected to be the upcoming Nothing Phone (1). The device is expected to launch in the Indian market alongside the Global launch.
