Garmin Forerunner 55 is the latest model of Garmin’s famous running watch line. This device has a sleek and lightweight design that can be worn all day to track steps, distance, calories burned and more! Garmin Forerunner 945 LTE version also released on Global Running Day along with Forerunner 55.

The next big release from the Garmin is Fenix 7, and it is expected to be released soon. It would be an ideal smartwatch for runners and outdoor enthusiasts. According to DigitMize, the Fenix 7 may also come with a solar charging model like the Fenix 6 Pro Solar.

Display and Design

The Forerunner 55 boasts a colour screen with a density of 208 x 208 pixels, like the Garmin Forerunner 45 series. The Garmin Forerunner 55 does not have a touchscreen, so you must use the buttons for navigation. Both the watches offer better display visibility even in bright conditions, providing an advantage for active outdoor enthusiasts.

Even though it is an exact match in terms of design, the Forerunner 55 looks like the Forerunner 245. It comes with a 20mm silicone strap to secure it to the hands.


The Garmin Forerunner 55 is primarily designed for runners. The in-built GPS, along with Garmin PacePro, gives you more accurate insights into your pace, speed, and other important running metrics.
The new Forerunner 55 features cadence alerts, a measurement of steps per minute, which is not available on the Forerunner 45. Other key features that make this smartwatch suitable for outdoor activities are the daily workout suggestions, recovery advisor, and improved body battery.
In addition to that, the new Forerunner got a few more sport profiles such as pool swimming, HIIT, and virtual running.
The Garmin coach feature guidance for training to achieve your fitness goals. The wrist-based heart rate sensor closely monitors your heart rate throughout the day, notifying you if it goes up abnormally when you are taking a rest.

The Garmin Forerunner 55 also records your sleep patterns and VO2 Max. However, the ability to track your sleep is not as good as that of Fitbit wearable devices.

If you already own a Forerunner 45, then we do not recommend you upgrade to Forerunner 55 because the features are the same on both devices.
