Before we begin, a little knowledge for those who’re new to the custom ROM world. LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. Most people prefer it cause, it can be used without the need to have any Google application installed. That being said, let’s flash LineageOS 18.1 on OnePlus 8T.

Disclaimer: Bootloader unlock may erase your data. So backup all the necessary data before proceeding. Also, it’s advised to have the latest software installed on your device.

So, you’ve to unlock the bootloader of your device before proceeding with the installation. If you don’t know how to unlock the bootloader, check this guide.

Once you’ve successfully unlocked the bootloader, follow the below steps.

  • Download the latest build of LineageOS from one of the Mirror links given above and rename to
  • Connect your device to PC and open a command prompt window
  • Input following commands in the PC terminal
    adb reboot bootloader
  • Your device should now be on device’s bootloader
  • Now, input below commands to boot to recovery.
    fastboot boot recovery.img
  • Do a factory reset to have a fresh system: Factory reset > Format data/factory reset > Format data
  • Then you’ve to choose: Advanced > Enter fastboot
  • Once in the fastboot mode, input the following commands to flash the ROM
    fastboot update
  • Wait for the command terminal to completely sideload the ROM.
  • Finally, reboot…OnePlus 8T LineageOS 18.1
