How to install Android 11-based LineageOS 18.1 on OnePlus 8T

LineageOS 11 is available for OnePlus 8T. Though unofficial, the ROM is stable enough to be a daily driver. Let’s go through the steps by which you can flash LineageOS on your shiny OnePlus 8T.

Flash LineageOS 18.1 on OnePlus 8T

Disclaimer: Bootloader unlock may erase your data. So backup all the necessary data before proceeding. Also, it’s advised to have the latest software installed on your device.

So, you’ve to unlock the bootloader of your device before proceeding with the installation. If you don’t know how to unlock the bootloader, check this guide.

Once you’ve successfully unlocked the bootloader, follow the below steps.

• Download the latest build of LineageOS from one of the Mirror links given above and rename to update.zip.
• Connect your device to PC and open a command prompt window
• Input following commands in the PC terminal
  adb reboot bootloader
• Your device should now be on device’s bootloader
• Now, input below commands to boot to recovery.
  fastboot boot recovery.img
• Do a factory reset to have a fresh system: Factory reset > Format data/factory reset > Format data
• Then you’ve to choose: Advanced > Enter fastboot
• Once in the fastboot mode, input the following commands to flash the ROM
  fastboot update update.zip
• Wait for the command terminal to completely sideload the ROM.
• Finally, reboot…
