LG from time to time has been known to target the premium segment through its product positioning. South Korean giant has decided to showcase its new concept based smartphone series which will be part of its Explorer Project. The LG Wing will be amongst the first product from that series. The company plans to commercialize it following the enthusiasm for the device in the tech sphere. Recently, the official renders for the device have surfaced courtesy of Evan Blass which shows its weird T shape and rotating form factor.
LG Wing: Specification
LG Wing is touted to be one of the most unique smartphones in recent times keeping the Mi MIX series and the Galaxy Fold series in mind. It has a 6.8-inch OLED display with negligible bezels. But a simple twist the display rotates to an angle of 90-degrees revealing the secondary 4-inch panel that can be used alongside the main screen. As a result, it provides a unique looking T-shape and allows users to utilize both the displays simultaneously. It will help users to use two social networking websites at one, navigate through Google Maps while taking a call, or playing a game. We leave it up to the user’s imagination for utilizing the device as per their need.
Coming to optics, there’s a triple-camera system on the back. At first glance, it looks like the Oppo Reno 4 which has a similar camera setup. There’s an LED flash for low-light photography. Unfortunately, rest of the specification about the rear cameras hasn’t surfaced. Nor can we make out the front-facing cameras on the rotatable display.
The device will be powered by the Snapdragon 765G SoC, which has been tried by the brand on its LG Velvet and several other phones as well and will support 5G out of the box.
Expect a massive battery because of the dual display. The same can be expected from its storage variants.
Pricing and availability
The event is scheduled for September 14 at 10:00 and will take place in South Korea. The launch event will be streamed live on LG Mobile’s official YouTube channel and Facebook page. Hopefully, it should arrive in the rest of the markets as well. Reports also suggest that the LG Wing will be priced at KRW 1.09 million, which is roughly 918 USD.
