MediaTek has been on a roll ever since it announced the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ back in December 2019. They seem to be gaining the momentum as well as the market after the Huawei fiasco last year. Its Dimensity line up of SoCs has been an instant hit in the Chinese market with devices such as ZTE AXON 11 SE, Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro, OPPO A92s, iQOO Z1, Redmi 10X series to name a few. Keeping that in mind, reports suggest that the development for the next Dimensity SoC is already underway i.e. the MediaTek 2000 and is expected to arrive by Q2 2021.
Must See :MediaTek to release a new mid-range chip, Dimensity 600
The company has shifted its focus towards 5G based SOCs and has been busy this year launching the likes of Dimensity 1000, 800, 820, 720 chipsets. Occupying a key position in mid-to-high 5G mobile phones. The product line up seems to be perfect at this moment.
According to reports, MediaTek’s next-generation mobile phone flagship processor may be named Dimensity 2000. This was evident as they didn’t have any flagship SOC against the likes of its counterpart i.e. Qualcomm.
MediaTek Dimensity 2000 SoC
MediaTek Dimensity 2000 will be using a 5nm process which is an improvement over the 7nm from Dimensity 1000. We can expect Mediatek to implement ARM’s latest A78 cores and upgrade the Mali GPU as well. This might help MediaTek to capture some of the market from Qualcomm in 2021.
Moreover, MediaTek actually has an upper hand. With the US government’s ban on TSMC’s supplies to Huawei’s Kirin SOC post-September this year. Huawei after being left out could favour Mediatek and power its devices with the Dimensity SoCs.
Additionally, there has been some speculation surrounding that MediaTek might launch Dimensity 400 SOC by the end of this year.
