Nubia has officially launched the RedMagic 6 Series in China. The series includes the RedMagic 6, 6 Pro, and 6 Pro Special Edition. Performance-wise all of them are equipped with the same chipset, cameras. The difference lies with their battery, thermals, storage options, colour variants, etc.
From the design point of view, the RedMagic 6 has a carbon fibre texture over its rear panel and asymmetrical lighting to match the gaming theme. It also has the RedMagic logo which lights up and the Tencent logo which doesn’t. The company named the design as Mecha Sci-Fi. However, the RedMagic 6 Pro is specifically built with a combination of Aviation grade Aluminum alloy and glass.
Red Magic 6 Series: Specifications
At its core, the RedMagic 6 Series is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. The RedMagic 6 is paired with up to 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. Whereas the Red Magic 6 Pro is paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. For the software part, all of them runs on RedMagic OS 4.0 based on Android 11.
Moving towards the front, the device features a 6.8″ FHD+ AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate. Moreover, it comes with a 500Hz single-finger touch sampling and 300Hz multi-finger touch sampling rates with just 8ms latency. The display has a 91.28% screen-body ratio and comes with a sixth-generation in-display fingerprint scanner. It can also be unlocked quickly under conditions such as dry hands, wet hands, and low temperatures.
It also comes with 10-bit colour support, 1000000:1 contrast ratio, 91.28% screen-body ratio, SGS certification for low smear and blue-light.
For optics, the device house a triple camera set up at the rear which includes a 64MP primary camera, 8MP ultra-wide-angle-lens and a 2MP macro sensor. Whereas at the front, we get an 8MP camera for selfies. In addition, the cameras also include features such as HDR support, Cyberpunk filters, 4K video, Neovision camera optimizations, etc.
The RedMagic 6 draws its power from a 5,050 mAh battery that supports 66W fast charging. On the other hand, the RedMagic 6 Pro comes with a 4,500mAh battery that supports 120W fast charging.
Some of its gaming features include RedMagic Arc Reactor Performance & Tencent Solar core Engine, RAM Boost, Frame Optimization 2.0, Tencent Mobile Game Accelerator, etc.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6 2*2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, BeiDou, SA/NSA 5G, 3.5mm audio jack, Dual Stereo speakers, DTS X Ultra and Qualcomm aptX support, Three-microphone array, multi-mode wired/wireless projection to a TV(up to 1080p at 165fps),. The Redmagic 6 and 6 Pro measures 169×77.09×9.7mm and 169×77.09×9.8mm respectively, but both of them weighs 220 grams.
Red Magic 6 Series: Cooling Mechanism
The RedMagic 6 Series includes an upgraded ICE6 with a multi-dimensional heat dissipation system, which integrates high-speed cooling fans, cooling canyon air ducts, thermal conductive copper foil, thermally conductive gel, graphite, liquid-cooled VC heat sinks, canyon air duct design, etc. A variety of heat dissipation technologies are integrated, which is the world’s exclusive heat dissipation system combining active heat dissipation and passive uniform heat. Whereas, the Pro variant gets a 7-layer heat dissipation system.
The RedMagic 6’s consistent air-cooled heat dissipation has been upgraded again on this aircraft. Its built-in centrifugal fan speed reaches 18,000 rpm, which is comparable to the F1 racing engine. The maximum speed of the fan blade tip reaches 14m/s, which is comparable to the 7-level wind speed. As per the company, the air heat transfer coefficient of the RedMagic 6 has been increased by 500%, which can reduce the CPU core temperature by 16°C, allowing the phone to enter the spring in one second.
Whereas the RedMagic 6 Pro has also been upgraded again on this basis, the built-in centrifugal fan is increased to up to 20,000 rpm, which can effectively reduce the body’s tactile temperature by more than 3 degrees. Tencent Red Magic Gaming Phone 6 also adopts a new charging separation mode. The current is directly supplied to the phone system across the battery, which not only prevent overheating but also effectively prolongs its battery life.
Pricing and Availability
RedMagic 6 is available in two colours- Carbon Fiber Black and Cyber Neon(Blue and Purple Gradient design). Whereas the RedMagic 6 Pro is available in two colour variants – Iron Black and Ice Blade Silver colours. There’s also a Transparent version but it’s limited to the 16GB and 18GB RAM versions.
In terms of price, RedMagic 6 starts at 3,799 yuan($588) for its 8GB+128GB variants, 4,099 yuan($634) for 12GB+128GB variant and 4,399 yuan($680) for 12GB+256GB variant.
While, the RedMagic 6 Pro costs 4,399 yuan($680) for its 12GB+128GB variant, 4,799 yuan($741) for 12GB+ 256GB variant, and 5,299 yuan($819) for 16GB+ 256GB variant.
Lastly, the RedMagic 6 Pro Special Edition costs 5,599 yuan($865) for its 16GB+256GB variant and 6,599 yuan($1,020) for its 18GB+512GBvariant.
At present, these mobile phones have been simultaneously opened for pre-sale in Nubia’s official website, offline stores and cooperative stores, and Nubia JD’s self-operated flagship store. The first sale will be at 10:00 on March 11.
