Searching GIFs in iOS 10’s iMessage briefly turned up porn (Of course, Apple’s already shut it down.) GIF search is one of the new features built into iMessage in iOS 10. Apple has been prohibiting searches for most sexual terms, but it’s a real problem for porn to slip through for an otherwise normal term like “huge.”
From recent news, there have been reports about iMessage in iOS 10 regarding porn gifs. Apple was not aware of this thing at the launch of iOS 10. Users are getting pornographic images when they type words like ‘huge’ and ‘bounce’ which is completely inappropriate. As soon as the word spread out Apple started to fix it as soon as it can. A user named Deadspin’s Kyle Wagner searched for the word ‘butt’ in the gif search of messages and he got results like animated My Little Pony porn. Later another word ‘huge’ was found which literally shows uncensored gif image results. Apple has already started blocking such kind of words, but the team should have checked everything before the launch of iOS 10 just for safety measures.

Meanwhile, Apple has blocked other pornographic words to sweep out porn and the fact is they never knew this was going to happen. when users searched words like ‘butt’ they found porn content gif messages. Eventually, they have removed many other related words and now most of the words are blocked and very soon they are going to block all the similar types of words in the search. When these words are searched in the gif search bar the outcome result will show ‘no results’ as for now.
This issue has caused Apple a big problem, when it got viral on the internet and the reason it happened could be because Apple is getting these gifs from third parties like Giphy. Though they are getting it from third parties ‘they did not bother to filter these types of words’. This could be one of the reasons for words like ‘butt’ and ‘huge’ to appear with porn images.
A mother Tassie Bethany said, “I see the image come up like, holy shit, whoa whoa whoa, that’s a hardcore porn image”.
Apple will soon block all these hardcore porn messaging words because there is just some teething problems with new operating systems and it will be corrected soon.
