Recently, @cozyplanes said that Samsung will launch a triple-folding ‘tablet’ (expected to be a large-size folding screen phone), a transparent display phone, and even a scroll screen model. Plus, there should be an ‘unimaginable concept product’.
Transparent mobile phones have not yet mature solutions in the industry. We guess it may have a design similar to the Xiaomi Mi TV Master series.
You may not be unfamiliar with triple-folding models. Recently, LetsGoDigital was talking about the patent render of Samsung’s triple-folding screen models. Samsung also hinted last month that it would launch a triple-folding screen device and a scrolling screen model.
Everyone should be familiar with scroll screens. TCL and OPPO have shown related concept scroll screen devices before. LG even said that it will launch its first scroll screen phone in the first half of 2021. Although Samsung seems to prefer folding screen models, the Korean company will also have corresponding product plans.
The OPPO X 2021 screen can be resized from 6.7 inches to a maximum of 7.4 inches. At present, as a concept phone, it only provides switching between two sizes. However, according to OPPO’s description, future mass-produced models can provide stepless adjustment between 6.7 and 7.4 inches. For example, when you watch a 4:3 ratio video, the scroll screen will automatically open to adapt to the 4:3 ratio; similarly, 16:9, 21:9, and even various ratios can be adjusted steplessly.
As for the folding screen smartphones market, recently, IHS Markit issued a message, ‘Making folding screen smartphones is much different from that of the traditional smartphones. Related technology has more requirements. Although in the first half of this year, the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X were announced, their launch has been delayed for a few times. But we still have a positive attitude towards the future folding screen smartphones market.’ As for now, IHS Markit expects that the number of folding screen shipments will reach 50 million by 2024.
