A couple of years ago, when Redmi was a Xiaomi series of smartphones, the Chinese manufacturer decided to bring another brand for the international market. Though Xiaomi is presented in many markets and in most of them, it leads, this brand has not officially entered markets such as the US. So using the POCO brand as armor, it was trying to go global. We should say it succeeded. The first model launched by this brand was considered to be the cheapest flagship smartphone of that time. But later, its plans changed. And we didn’t see new POCO phones for a long time. This year, the company has decided to resurrect POCO. Although it has been performing in India only. But this is going to change soon. One Poco and two Mi phones bags EEC certification.
Today, one new POCO and two Xiaomi phones were certified in Russia. Unfortunately, the certification documents don’t reveal the names and features of these handsets. But there is every reason to think they will be the already-launched models. In this sense, it’s quite useful to recall what smartphones have been launched by this brand recently.
Three latest released models of POCO are the POCO X2, the POCO F2 Pro, and the POCO M2 Pro. But the former model was launched back in February. So it’s less possible to have a follow-up. In this regard, the most possible variant to land in Russia is the POCO M2 Pro.
The POCO M2 Pro features a 6.67-inch full-HD+ with 1080 x 2400 pixel resolution. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G SoC and Adreno 618 GPU. There are three variants with a 4/6GB RAM and 64/128GB storage. Also, the POCO M2 Pro has a quad-camera setup at the back with 48MP primary camera + 8MP ultrawide camera lens + 5MP macro camera + 2MP depth sensor. There’s a punch hole 16MP camera on the front for selfies and video chats. It has a huge 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging and the phone runs on MIUI 11 for POCO that is based on Android 10.
As for two Xiaomi phones, it’s harder to guess what models we are dealing with. But the source thinks one of them may be the Redmi 9C. The Redmi 9C houses an Helio G35 SoC with an octa-core processor and 2.3GHz chipset. A 6.53-inch HD+ Waterdrop display present with 720p resolution support. There’s a 13-megapixel AI triple camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel camera on the front. A 5000 mAh battery is present which can keep the phone working for a couple of days.
Anyways, if so, there is every reason to think the third model should be the Redmi 9A launched along with the Redmi 9C.
