Last night, Xiaomi announced that it will release an epoch-making technological innovation today. And this morning, Xiaomi Mobile officially announced its self-developed MI Air Charge technology for the first time, allowing charging to get rid of the shackles of wires and charging bases. Under the entire self-developed system, Xiaomi has 17 patented technologies, making it a revolutionary innovation.
According to Zeng Xuezhong, president of Xiaomi’s mobile phone department, this air-to-air charging technology is implemented through Xiaomi’s self-developed air-to-air charging pile. The latter has 5-phase interference antennas built in that can perform millisecond spatial positioning of mobile devices to accurately detect the location of the smartphone. Coupled with a phase-controlled array composed of 144 antennas, millimeter waves are sent to the smartphone through beamforming.
On the smartphone side, Xiaomi innovatively realized the miniaturized design of the antenna array, placing the “beacon antenna” and the “receiving antenna array” in it. The smartphone receives the millimeter wave signal through the micro beacon antenna, and converts it into electric energy through the internal rectifier circuit of the smartphone. It can realize 5W long-distance charging within a few meters, and the charging efficiency will not be reduced even if there are foreign objects.
In addition to smartphones, Xiaomi also plans to integrate smartwatches, bracelets and other wearable devices into the self-developed air charging system. In the future, small smart home products such as speakers and desk lamps will be able to realize wireless power supply design, bringing sci-fi scenarios to real life.
Apart from this, Motorola also released a demonstration video on Motorola’s air-to-air charging technology. According to it, two Motorola Edge smartphones are placed 1 meter and 80cm away from the charging transmitter, and the smartphones can automatically start charging.
After covering the charging transmitter with your hand, the phone stopped charging. Regarding this, Lenovo’s China mobile phone business department general manager said that Motorola’s distance charging can be greater than the current contact charging based on Qi technology. And it can charge multiple smartphones at the same time.
However, the company has not yet announced more information on the air charging technology. In short, the era of wireless charging is coming.
