Xiaomi Mi 12 and many other top-end models will use LPTO screens

Today, an industry insider Ross Young disclosed that the Xiaomi Mi 12 will use a LTPO screen.

Not only the Xiaomi Mi 12, but the OPPO Find X3 series, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, Huawei Mate 50 Pro, iPhone 12s Pro, iPhone 12s Pro Max and other models will also use LTPO screens.

The full name of LTPO is Low Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide.

At present, the two main backplane technologies for small size OLEDs are LTPS and oxide. And LTPO is a new type of backplane technology that combines the advantages of these two technologies to achieve higher charge mobility at lower production costs.

LTPO is considered to be the technology of the future. The LTPO screen is currently one of the best displays in the industry. Samsung has taken the lead in using it on its toppest-end flagship.

In addition, Ross Young said that the Xiaomi Mi 12 may be released in 2021. This seems to mean that Xiaomi Mi 12 may be released at the end of the year like the Xiaomi Mi 11.

According to Xiaomi’s consistent strategy, the Xiaomi Mi 12 is expected to launch Qualcomm’s new-generation flagship processor. However, one thing is clear – if this news is true, LPTO will become the main screen technology used in the flagship smartphones.
