Xiaomi’s Mi MIX series finally makes a comeback but with a slight twist. The Mi MIX series has always been Xiaomi’s most innovative products since its inception. Be it their first Mi MIX with the bezel-less design while the last one went even further with the all display i.e the Mi MIX Alpha. Earlier, Xiaomi has introduced its very first foldable device under its Mi MIX Series i.e the Mi MIX Fold. The company has teased foldable devices in the past, but they never saw the light of the day. Mi MIX Fold is their first foldable device to be made available to the public.
Design
The Mi MIX FOLD adopts an internal folding design. After unfolding, it is an 8.01″ true full screen. After folding, it is a 6.52-inch flexible AMOLED screen. The hinge part is claimed to have passed the 200,000 bending reliability test. Whereas, the maximum number of folds can reach up to 1 million times. For protection, the device is covered in Gorilla Glass 5. It also has a special edition with a textured ceramic back with a gold middle frame and volume buttons and a special laser engraving on the back. It also supports Quick Charge 4+ and Power Delivery 3.0 but misses out on wireless charging.
Performance
At its core, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. It is paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. The device draws its power from a 5020mAh (dual battery design – 2460mAh + 2560mAh) battery which supports 67W fast charging. The battery is currently the best in the foldable segment. The company claims that the device will fully charge in 37 minutes. It also comes with an innovative butterfly cooling and pioneering micro Airbag cooling technology.
Display
According to Lei Jun, the Mi MIX has been extensively used for months before making its public. That said, the device has an no front cameras on the display like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2. Xiaomi has settled for a 4:3 aspect ratio for the inner display whereas the outer display has a 27:9 aspect ratio. The cover display also has a punch hole at the top left corner for the front camera.
Coming back to the display quality, the Xiaomi MIX FOLD internal screen uses 8.01″ 2K retina AMOLED foldable flexible screen with resolution 2480×1860. In the PC mode, there are familiar computer operation interfaces, including the start menu, control center, and multiple windows that can be accesssed at the same time.

It provides an improved 3A algorithm and low-light focus capabilities resulting in more accurate autofocus, autoexposure, and auto white balance. Xiaomi claims that the chip provides exceptionally high performance while using less storage space and light on the CPU.
