xiaomi new design patent

Xiaomi is working on different designs to bring the best smartphone for users. Recently, the company unleashed Mi 10, Redmi 9, and Redmi Note 9 smartphones, and many new are pending for launch. Xiaomi MI 10S or Mi 10 Pro+ is also in works, meanwhile, the Redmi 9 is slated for launch in China tomorrow. In between all this, a new Xiaomi patent of a smartphone with a sliding camera has appeared on CNIPA.

The patent reveals the new sliding cameras via five different designs. The camera module features dual rear cameras and front single camera. Every design houses a volume rocker and power button on the right side, meanwhile, another button and a SIM Tray is present on the left side. At the bottom, we can see a USB Type-C port and speaker grills. There’s hardly any other information.

The liftable camera is placed in five different orientation and placement. We have detailed each below.

Design 1 – In the first, the camera is placed on the right side of the smartphone where it can slide up and down for selfies.

Design 2 – The slidable camera module is placed in the middle of the smartphone. Other functioning remains the same.

Design 3 – The camera is shifted towards the left side of the smartphone (if we see it from the front side).

Design 4 – The camera module is placed horizontally on the left side of the device. The camera will pop out from the left side of the device.

Design 5 – It is placed on the right-hand side of the device, with the front camera facing the same side.

The camera module is attached somewhere on the rear side of the smartphone. Instead of popping inside the device, the new patent showcase camera on the rear. However, it can lead to more scratches and will become bulgy from the rear side. We expect some refinement in the design if Xiaomi really picks this patent for some device.
